I am trying to make a small secondhand work wardrobe feel coherent without replacing everything. I buy most work clothes used, and the available sizes often narrow the choice before color enters the picture. I would like a few pieces that work together instead of a collection of individually appealing bargains. I already have a charcoal jacket and two cream shirts worth keeping for their fit and usefulness. My next purchase will probably be a knit layer, but I cannot compare every possible shade in person. Should the first comparison involve my existing jacket and shirts, or should I assess each color beside my face? One subject behind this question is personal color analysis though the result needs to help with actual purchases rather than create another list of forbidden shades. Which observations would you record after trying a piece so that future choices become easier to compare?
